Size & fit

The right size and fit are essential for comfort, warmth, and performance. A properly fitting glove provides better mobility, more effective insulation, and a more natural feel in the hand.

Choose the Right Size and Fit

Hestra uses a classic sizing system based on precise measurements of hand proportions. Here we show how to measure your hand to easily find the right size on each product page.

How to Measure Your Hand

The traditional glove sizing system was developed in France several hundred years ago. By measuring thousands of hands, it became clear that the circumference of the hand often reflects its overall proportions.

Here's how to measure:

· Measure the circumference of your hand with a measuring tape, just below the knuckles (excluding the thumb).
· If you don’t have a measuring tape, use a piece of string and then measure the length with a ruler.

Compare your measurements with the size guide available on each product page.

Size Recommendations for Sport Gloves

Sport gloves are designed for performance and mobility and typically stretch very little over time. For this reason, choosing the correct size from the start is important.

· The glove should have a small gap between the hand and the material. The air trapped in this space helps insulate and retain warmth.

· A sport glove that is too tight may feel cold because insulation is reduced.

· If you are between two unisex sizes, the larger size is generally recommended.

· Note that junior size 7 and unisex size 7 are not the same, as children’s and junior gloves follow a separate sizing scale.

Size Recommendations for Dress Gloves

Dress gloves without lining, or with thin linings such as cashmere, wool, or silk, should fit closely from the start. The material naturally shapes to the hand and often stretches slightly with use.

· A close fit provides the best long-term result.

· Choosing a size that is too large may result in a loose fit as the glove stretches.

· Many dress gloves are therefore available in both whole and half sizes for a more precise fit.

· If you fall between two sizes, a half size is usually recommended.

Sizes for Children and Juniors

For children's and junior gloves, sizing is typically based on age rather than hand circumference. This means you usually do not need to measure the hand when selecting a size for children.

With the right size and fit, you achieve better comfort, more effective warmth, and a glove that performs as intended in every situation.
